Caping around

Tried to get my hands dirty with cloth painting in Unreal engine. It’s as complicated as I imagined it to be. I went into blind and then watched videos after unsuccessful attempts. The cape is still coming out quite wonky but I’m slowly understanding how to make it work.

I had not been weighing it down properly and it kept coming off the model, after some helpful tutorials I got it to stay on his shoulder for some of the animations.

It’s got a really cool look when it’s behind the arm, which I imagine it will be when the character has his whip/weapon out. In the picture above the pink part is the one that will not have the cloth properties. My mistake was painting everything white so it was simply flying above aimlessly.

My current problem is that is floats above and doesn’t really follow it’s animation. (Thanks giphy for the horrible gif quality.) But the cloth physics do look bloody cool. I’ll continue watching videos tonight maybe I can get it working better by tomorrow morning.
