Some but not much

The guy who made The First Tree (an indie game) gave good advice about game development. He said, “never have a 0% day.” That has stuck with me and it makes me feel better when I am stuck or demoralized. Today I definitely didn’t get much done. I actually bought an asset from the store, but I can’t figure out how to integrate it with the character I made. It’s a grapple hook, and it works in his own setup. I still have lots to learn.

That’s pretty much all I got up to today. It was a slow Monday. I was able to use my custom mesh but the cape disappeared for some reason. I’m sure I can pick it apart carefully to understand it. I paid for it after all, I gotta use it somehow. I’m back to relearning animations as I figured I need to start adding gameplay, ended up watching tutorials I had already seen because a lot of it didn’t retain. There is so much. But what I was glad about was being able to manipulate the camera better. I know how to make sure it follows the player properly and adjusts when there are objects in between. For now that is enough. Tomorrow I will get him punching/attacking at least. Swinging about and grappling may be a bit advanced for where I am at in this stage of development. Gotta remember to start small and work my way up.
