For quite awhile the name for the project was Meshtest because it was originally just to test the model I was using, then as it grew I figured why not use it for the game itself. I tried to change the name to HAUNT or more game related, but it wasn’t that easy. Unreal couldn’t find the folder. Finally I stopped being lazy and looked up how to do it, it was a few easy steps and voila new name.
After that I took a dive back into the marketplace to check out the free assets. I don’t think furniture is worth spending money on, at least digitally. I would spend money if it was totally necessary and save me a lot of time. Anyway there were a lot of good stuff I didn’t pick up before, lots of furniture and nice props that an eccentric professor would convincingly collect. What slowed me down before was that I was switching back and forth between the folders that held different props, and so I spent some time organizing by putting all the possible props into one single folder. That way I can visualize the room by looking at all the props I had at my disposal.
I was able to finish two more rooms, and I also found a nice texture set for glass. One of the textures simulates rainfall which is important for the setting of the game since I want it to be raining outside. I’ll have to stick the textures onto the windows one by one because I didn’t make connected to one blueprint, but that shouldn’t be too time consuming. By the end of the week the first floor should have full rooms. Then the fighting shall commence!
