New month new free stuff. Funnily enough one of the free assets is something I had purchased a few months back for the boss. Not too disappointed, it’s good I had to early so I could finish the boss and move on to other things. I adjusted the lighting of the level again. It was back to being too dark ever since I changed all the walls and pillars. So I added new lights and made them more dynamic by adding simple logic that made them change color. I couldn’t think of anything else to make the level more interesting for now. My head was a bit fried as I tried to nail down what I could do to make the level more fun.
Then I got distracted by the aesthetics of the game, and I wondered why I wasn’t happy with how things looks. I realized that the models for the player character and the boss are very different. Especially because the boss is far more details and has actual hands with fingers. I wanted to keep the models rather simple because of my limited ability. After looking around and actually trying some models from the marketplace I decided I would go back to the one I made months ago for the character. I can easily change it and manipulate it. There was a lot of fear when I opened blender for the first time in months. It had obviously been awhile since I used it. Thankfully most of it came back to me and I was able to get the model working for the boss in the engine. Next thing I have to do is change it enough so it has its own unique model.
I know I want to find a better look for the player character. Update the model and finalize its face. I want to have a signature look and most probably a distinct mask for the Haunter. Once I’ve finished that and the boss then I’ll go back to making the level have more things to do, or have something to actually solve.
