Version 14 or 16

I think I have landed on a model I will be using for the foreseeable future. It is by no means super detailed, or artistically impressive but it is of my own creation and I feel very satisfied being able to make something myself from scratch. As the title suggests I cannot remember what version of the model this is since I may have skipped a few when labeling them. The first one I tried today had two tails/scarves. It looked way cooler in my head and ended up very silly in game, so I threw it right back in the trash.

I’m a big fan of asymmetry especially on character models. It was a bit tricky but I put bands in the left arm and a shoulder pad on the right. I think it looks very badass. I’m curious to see what more people would think of this game especially in its current state. I may post a video on reddit by the end of the month to get a general opinion or outlook. And I know there will be lots of helpful advice.

As I had also wanted to work on the breakable objects I found a way so it shattered more consistently. It’s a bit of a shortcut, and I don’t see the need to change anything so far. The object hits, and is replaced by a destructible object which explodes into many pieces. A another small addition I made was to add a slow motion effect on the parry as well. To drive home the signal that a parry was successfully completed.

As always I will continue to refine the player character’s logic and mechanics. But my next main focus will be on the level itself, making it more interesting and adding more steps in order to get to the boss. Which is something I had already partially planned. I will look into more way to optimize the game as well. I have noticed that it is getting a bit more taxing to run and I am not exactly sure why. Onward!
