Added two new rooms. Each one with an interesting shape. The asset I am using has nice modular pieces that allow for fun customization while piecing together very nicely. Instead of working the way I had been this past week, I made it easier on myself. I first create the room on a flat plane, then I make sure I fill it with all the props I deem necessary. Once I feel I have done enough I close off the ceiling then I rotate the room to fit the entrance it is supposed to be connected to. This works way better than creating a room while it is sideways or upside down. I can see more clearly and I don’t get a headache while doing it.
Creating a stairway was a bit tricky because I didn’t know exactly which pieces to use when putting the sides and the ceiling so I just improvised with some floor pieces to make sure the ceiling was high enough for the player to walk through. After I finished adding the second room I converted all to a single actor so I could test it out. It is definitely much larger than before. And it is a good thing I tested it because while walking around I found out that the window is large enough for the player to fall through. So, I went to all the window models and made sure it had a collision that blocked the player from going out.
It looked great so far, it is as disorienting and interesting as I want it to be. It will not be as dark as it is now, and I will be adding more props and other curiosities as well. I just need to decide if I want to add more rooms, or if it is fine as it is. There is definitely one more room I need to add which is the boss room, besides that is still under consideration.
While exploring the marketplace I saw an asset talk about a free prompt pack online, so I searched it up. It is amazing what was inside, it is all the pictures I need for prompts for all the gamepads and keyboard. I can replace the crappy pictures that I had bought, which at this point was a waste of money, since this free pack had been online for quite awhile.
It is so clean and nicely made. Before I continue building the level I am going to replace all the available prompt pictures I have.
