I quickly removed the floating text that said “Viable Source” on a save point. I thought it would be more immersive if the player could identify on their own where to save. I included in the tutorial that orange flames that they lit themselves should be able to contain a save point. That should be enough. I also browsed the animation assets in the Marketplace and I found a few that I put on my wish list and will probably buy for future bosses.
While trying to recall how to create a landscape I can paint with different textures I accidentally put a reflective surface on the floor of the level. It was a great accident because it ended up as a beautiful sight. I will probably keep it as is since it looks stunning. There are some visual changes I have to improve but as of now the reflections make the lights even better.
I started adding more buildings all over the town, and I don’t want to go nuts on it. So I made it a small enclosure that I can explain through story telling. I wanted the town to have a very claustrophobic feel, to do this I made sure the buildings were very huddled and close together. I had a lot of buildings to play with so I made sure that I used a wide variety without repeating a certain building too often. Using the character I moved through the stage a few times to get a feel of what it was like to traverse it. So far it was pretty fun. I still need to figure out a way to make it easier to stand on steeper surfaces.
There is a lot more work to do but I am happy with the progress so far. I have to figure out how the puzzle of the stage fits into it all, and eventually of course I need to piece together the boss. I will add more props and improve the layout of the small town space.
