Arsenal

Started laying out the space for the boss to move. That means putting down the navigational mess so she can know where to walk around. Tested it out and she moved well enough. Bumping barrels caused her to go airborne. I increased her mass and that seemed to fix it, but it may cause other issues later. Will definitely keep an eye on it.

The captain is equipped with several objects. First I started with her shield. Jumped back into blender and made a pretty decent shield. It’s not that smooth and the lighting on it is a bit wonky but by making the material slightly reflective you can’t see the problem too much. I put the shield on her arm and added a collision box for the attacks. There are a lot of things I need to figure out and test for this boss. Since she is gonna be complicated I need to find the most efficient way to simply the functions where I can.

What I mean by that is since she is gonna have several weapons I don’t want to have several boxes for each weapon. I will figured out a way to use just one that I will move around to each weapon. I already started out by testing how it attaches to each one and it has no problems so far. The next important thing is figuring out how to change the size to make it accurate.

The sword was fun to make. Large and scary. The first version of the sword I made looked too phallic. The edge of the sword looked like a bell end. I didn’t keep that version of course. Instead I made the blade end pointed and it sizes spiky. It is a real gnarly weapon.

The final weapon I made for her is the spear. I am absolutely in love with spear fighting and I think it is a very underrated weapon. This was also fun to make and I didn’t make it look phallic on the first try, so good for me. I tried giving the spear a cloth that would move about with it but there were some importing issues and I couldn’t get it to work. I left it as is and I think it makes more sense to have plain weapons for the captain. She is a character who won’t do anything unnecessarily. She probably wouldn’t have a cloth attached to her spear anyway.

I’m gonna put a pin in this boss for now and go back to working on the marketing side of the game. Preparing the steam page will take a lot and I should be getting the art I commissioned within the next few days.
