Ransacked

Copied the buildings I made and decided to go with a number of 10. That seemed to be a good count without being too few or too many. After that I added some of the lights in between the buildings. It was looking too open so I added small barriers around the vicinity to make it appear more organized. Everything was coming together nicely to create a small space that felt interesting to explore. The surroundings still felt empty so I added the trees I had chosen a few days ago. I put them in the foliage tool and made sure they could block the player but not the camera. It has been awhile since I used the too l but I remembered most of it. It is a nice feature to be able to add a variation in size for each tree “planted.”

Once the bigger things around the mausoleums were finished I worked on decorating the insides. I moved around the lids to show that they have been tampered with. While I was merging actors to make the actor count smaller, I accidentally duplicated them instead. Not an issue but it was fun to see multiple actors explode from the center of the building.

Each interior of the building is different. Some have minor differences while others are more disturbed. I found that the player could stand on the light. To fix this I found a variable on the collision that I can turn on to make sure the player cannot walk on it no matter what. So I added a capsule collision and turned this variable. Now when the player tried to jump on the light they will simply slide off.

In front of each building I attached a small message. I wrote different messages for each building. I used the Blueprint I made for the first level that displayed the names of the professors. It suited my needs perfectly.

Most of the area is finished. I will only need to add a few more finishing touches then I will move on to another section of the level.
