Colorful

Finishing the model didn’t take as long as I thought it would. I didn’t wanna add too much to the point it became distracting. I put enough detail that I liked and thought would be cool for the character. I used lots of colors and imported it into the engine. Then I added the clothe physics and tested out different colors. I used the mesh for the first boss so I could see how it moved. The colors weren’t great but the movement and the look of the cloth were great. The hat looked like a sunny-side up egg. I simplified the color scheme and it was the right step.

I created a blueprint for the boss to get started on the work for its AI and all that jazz. When I couldn’t decide on what color to give its cloth I decided it might be best for it to have all the colors. I first tried doing it through blueprints but it seemed like too much work. I searched online and found a pretty simple tutorial on making a material with a hue shift. It can go through all the colors and I slowed it down so the change is gradual. It was quite pretty and it looked awesome in-game. I think the character and the boss are going to be best friends.

Before I continue there are animations I need to get for the boss and I also need to start planning the final stage itself. Since the level will be focused on this boss this model will help flesh out the necessary details.
