I figured out how I want the start of the level to be, so I quickly put it together. Then I dressed it up a little bit then proceeded to the technical part of the puzzle. It was a lengthy process because I am not as bright as I hope to be.
Using the blueprint of the savepoint I created new torches that can turn on and off instead of just on. This is the essential part of the puzzle. What I wanted was for the solution to be specific torches, but I couldn’t figure it out on my own. I tried different simple ways and I ended up with a solution that can be found in more than one path. That may be better. I will then have to figure out how the puzzle translates to make sense in the game.
At first, I was just checking which ones were on and off, but that wasn’t enough because something needed to know all their states. So I use the level to check the torches. I may improve it or keep it. I am actually not too bothered by its current state. If I can find a way for the solution to make sense with multiple answers then that may be better.

After I got the puzzle working I started to fill the level with props and objects. It is a small space but I am gonna make it dense with detail and lore. I am hoping to make each room interesting and have something rewarding for those who look carefully enough. I did my best to stick to the same asset theme but I grabbed a few from another folder when I felt the need to.
This is just a small part of this stage. The next step will involve more writing of the story and elaboration of world details that I don’t think I’ve shown yet in the entire game.
