Concealing Light

The title of this post is the title of the new song I had commissioned and received. I absolutely love the song and I spent most of my time today making individual music for each stage using the separate tracks. Like the boss song, I mixed and matched what instruments I thought fit the level.

I also mixed the song with some of the existing ambiances that were present in some of the levels. To make sure it fit I played through the exploration loop of the stages. This was the final piece of the game and I can call it finished on the entire loop. There’s still a lot more polishing to be done of course. I hope others will enjoy the music as well.

I found and squashed some bugs along the way such as an issue with the lantern and the rotation of the character. When the camera adjusted the motion wasn’t smooth so I fixed it by increasing the rate at which the camera’s position is updated. It now has a much smoother feel when zooming in and out.

On the side, I’m still working on different ways of recording gameplay. I downloaded OBS Studio and quickly learned the best settings for recording. After finding the best settings that suit me, I tested a recording and it came out good enough. Moving forward I may record some bits and pieces of the levels while testing them again and again.
