Dream game is a dream come true

I’d love to talk about what I was working on this week, but I would rather keep it a secret. A great part of any game is the surprises! Since I’m chipping away at the final parts of the whole adventure, I wanted there to be so much more for the player to do and explore. I am a big fan of the final chapters, which are even bigger than the opening and middle parts of the world.

Getting to develop this game has turned into a dream come true ever since I was able to get support from Casey Yano (Slay the Spire <3) and [mystery funder] through Outersloth. I should actually be thanking them every day for this opportunity. So here’s my daily appreciation. Thank you!

I won’t lie; I feel the pressure of it all constantly, but it’s exciting and reminds me that I am doing something I love. They’ve certainly put a lot of trust in me, and I don’t want to understate that. First off, I am a solo developer, so I have to make sure everything is in tip-top shape from start to finish. Secondly, I am wholly unproven. My previous work was more of an experiment and study of game development. Thirdly, making games is crazy. Truly, it’s all crazy, and it’s the best thing ever.

Everyone from Outersloth has been so welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful. With their support, this game about dreams is becoming the game of my dreams. I’m still in constant disbelief that I am surrounded by such successful and accomplished folks (who are now my peers- that’s nuts). Sometimes I do feel the imposter (Among Us reference?) syndrome. Then I have to remind myself that there has been no mistake. I am doing something ambitious and have shown good work so far.

This year marks the 3rd year I have been working on Memoirium. At least, if I remember correctly, I started working on it in 2022. A lot of it has transformed since its inception, as expected of any game over the course of its development. What has remained the same is my hope that it can inspire others. Inspire them to write, to play, to hope, to build, and to love unreservedly.

I will end it here. I will consider writing more about game mechanics or technical parts of Memoirium in the future. I really wanted to make this to show my thanks and appreciation to my funders and Outersloth. Thank you again and again!
