Instrument Quality

It’s a strange and fulfilling feeling being able to complete a playthrough of my game. I landed somewhere close to 12 hours, which I think is a good length for the size of the game. Plus, it will probably take longer for others since I do have the advantage of knowing the game back to front.

While going through the game I made a lot of adjustments to the balancing, from stats to exp gained. What was more difficult was trying to come up with a balanced scaling for NG+. I tried my best, but it will certainly require more tweaking as I develop. I also added a new stat called “Instrument Quality.” This is essentially a weapon upgrade, but for all weapons. Just like the other items in the game, it will improve in a similar fashion by collecting a certain number of weapons. This makes finding new weapons actually rewarding since not all will be aligned with the player’s stats/build.

Also, mark your calendars, I’m gonna be back at PGDX (Philippine Gamedev Convention) from July 25-27. Last year was an unforgettable experience for me and I am excited to show how much Memoirium has improved.

I’ve changed how the damage scales for the weapons to encourage players to spread out their stats. The majority of weapons will now have a Main stat and an Alt stat. I first started out using text then I realized I could use images to make it easier to understand and more convenient for when I have the game localized.

Next on the agenda is adding more interesting items for build variety and increasing overall fun and replayability.
